Making memorable brand experiences
I’ve had the pleasure of working on many events down the years. These are some of my biggest and most enjoyable case studies. Bringing brands to life, curating spaces, and leaving a big impact on the audiences that experience them.
Change Product & Data Forum - for News UK and Wordpress
Taking over the venue space at LSO we curated a new brand and memorable event named ‘Change’. Encouraging leaders in the product and media space to share stories and network across industry sectors. The punchy watermelon colour scheme was unlike anything seen in the sector and lifted all the event collateral and marketing.

Having the master brand name at scale across the backdrop acted as a reminder to all speakers (and every photographer) that we were here to discuss 'Change'. The logo was often referenced or pointed to during the talks.

The speaker podium featured intentional repetition of the sponsoring brands, to make sure they appeared in every photo that was shared during and post event.

We implemented a number of gobo lights with the event logo around the venue, including the entranceway and the breakout area at the back of the auditorium.

We deployed various sentry banners around the venue acting as low-cost wayfinding.

Always make guest gifts useful, otherwise they just end up in the bin. These professional flip-notebooks (old fashioned reporter style) were on-theme for the event and were spotted being used extensively by the audience.

We kept the stage props minimal and curated, providing multi-purpose throughout the event.

For some sessions we designed the accompanying screen content, in this case the final fireside chat - a subtle video loop, with featured panellist names.

We created on-brand digital styles for the various video content, like these lower-thirds.
Optimism book launch, Magnetic
Small scale, small budget, small venue, summer book launch. Working within our means to create the biggest impact and warmest welcome for our guests. Illustrations and articles made their way out of the pages of the book into the space.

Creating a memorable entrance in a small space started with a 10-meter high banner, visible from the streets of Shoreditch. We then guided guests up to our roof-top party by immersing them in blue light

Name badges were varied with illustrative elements lifted from the pages of the book.

With limited display space we adorned the roof top windows with custom illustrations, visible both inside and out.

Using pre-existing hang points, we hijacked a wall usually displaying gaming posters and temporarily replaced them with our own artwork based on articles from the book.

Motifs from the book adorned glass all over the venue, providing moments of surprise and delight.

Playing up to the book theme (Optimism) and the roof top venue (a sun trap) we provided an ice cream menu and happy helpers, see below...

The freezer lid featured an easter egg illustration, only visible to the guests when opened up to serve their chosen flavour.

There were many pre-existing shelves around the venue. Not to miss an opportunity, we spread over 500 books around to act as part of the decor.

We also created a series of 'Optimism' beach towels to complement the ice cream stand and hot summer weather, providing guests a place to relax with their drinks and canepes.
“What we get wrong about people’ book launch, Fluxx
To launch Fluxx's fourth book, we extended the garden party feel from the pre-drinks, and brought the outside-in to transform a dark crypt environment into a bright summer event. Expanding on the book's vibrant colour, plants, lighting, and face-emojis adorned the venue. We used playful looped animations projected onto the walls to create a friendly, fun atmosphere.

To create a stage and backdrop that felt suitable for its setting, we designed a custom medieval style pennant banner to hang from an internal balcony. The diagram above details how we worked out it's dimensions.

Bringing the outside-in, we framed the stage with plants, large scale photography of the new book, and orange uplighters to bath the dim venue in a vibrant on-brand hue.

For the garden pre-drinks we hung branded bunting setting a relaxed festive atmosphere before we took guests down into the main venue.

The bunting featured sneak peaks of the emoji branding, lifted from the new book cover and featuring on further event assets such as the lanyards, name badges, wayfinding, and screens inside the venue.

Displayed on projectors, these playful animation loops showed off some of the emojis from the book cover. Adding humour, motion, and a conversation starter to the venue.

You can't have a book launch without guests. So how do you attract busy C-suite leaders or even get a piece of direct mail past their busy PA? You hit them with something eyecatching they've never seen before. Featuring a translucent envelope and vibrant pantone ink, our invite aimed to do just that.

The invitation itself was stuck onto a torn-out page from the book. Designed as a teaser, the guests were encouraged to attend to read more of the sample article, or ultimately, get hold of the whole final book.
